173 Years Ago Today
June 14, 1836 - October 23, 1904

My 2nd great grand uncle, David Allen Daugherty, was one of four known children born to John L. and Nancy (Ward) Daugherty.

  1. Mary Jane Daugherty (my 2nd great grandmother)
  2. Isaac W. Daugherty
  3. George C. Daugherty
  4. David Allen Daugherty

David married Nancy "Nannie" Laine Moore on October 6, 1825 in Tazewell County, VA. They were parents to seven children.

  1. Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie" Daugherty
  2. Harriet Letcher Daugherty
  3. Margaret W. Daugherty
  4. John William Daugherty
  5. George Fulton Daugherty
  6. Charles R. Daugherty
  7. Nannie Mae Daugherty

David and his wife Nannie are buried in Marrs Graveyard in Falls Mills, Virginia. Unfortunately, the small cemetery is now owned by someone who stables horses on the property without fencing the cemetery plots. Head stones are tragically being turned over and destroyed by the animals. In the fall of 08, I politely wrote the person that I think owns the property asking for some consideration in fencing the plots. As of this date, I have had no response.
